Silver Bells

12/24/10 Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney

Silver Bells lyrics
Songwriters: Livingston, Jay; Evans, Raymond B;

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas

Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas Day

Strings of streetlights even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home
With their treasures

Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene
And above all this bustle you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas Day

Silver bells, silver bells
Soon it will be Christmas Day
Soon it will be Christmas Day

Santa Baby

12/19/10 Eartha Kitt 1953

lyrics

Santa Baby, slip a sable under the tree, For me.
been an awful good girl, Santa baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa baby, a 54 convertible too,
Light blue.
I'll wait up for you dear,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Think of all the fun I've missed,
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed,
Next year I could be just as good,
If you'll check off my Christmas list,

Santa baby, I wanna yacht,
And really that's not a lot,
Been an angel all year,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa honey, there's one thing I really do need,
The deed
To a platinum mine,
Santa honey, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex,
And checks.
Sign your 'X' on the line,
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Come and trim my Christmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's,
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me,

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
A ring.
I don't mean on the phone,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry, tonight.

The Battle of New Orleans

12/15/10 Johnny Horton

Lyrics:

In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans.

[Chorus:]
We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin.
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin' on
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

We looked down the river and we see'd the British come.
And there must have been a hundred of'em beatin' on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring.
We stood by our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.

[Chorus]

Old Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise
If we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked 'em in the eye
We held our fire 'til we see'd their faces well.
Then we opened up with squirrel guns and really gave 'em ... well

[Chorus]

Yeah, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.**

We fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.

[Chorus]

Yeah, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.**

I'm forever blowing bubbles

12/3/10- written in 1919
Chorus
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

I'm dreaming dreams, I'm scheming schemes,
I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!

CHORUS

When shadows creep, when I'm asleep,
To lands of hope I stray!
Then at daybreak, when I awake,
My bluebird flutters away.
"Happiness, you seem so near me,
Happiness, come forth and cheer me!"

Oh Holy Night

11/27/10- Josh Groban

Yes, it is a bit too early in the season for this, but that is what Gary woke up singing.

We got the lights up on the outside of the house. I climbed the ladder and put them up and was petrified to be up so high!!

American Pie

11/7/10 Don Mclean

As you may know, this is my and my brother, Scott's song.
Tonight we heard Don Mclean in concert at the Birchmere. I was a wreck before Don came on stage thinking there was no way I could hear him. With my wonderful husband, who held my hand throughout the entire performance, I had not a problem and throughoughly enjoyed the concert and was on my feet for American Pie. Thanks Don for a great song... I miss you Scottie.

Three Stooges Theme Song

It took all day to find this on YouTube and thanks to my dear friend Ginni I now have the link!  The theme song everyone remembers is 3 blind mice, but that isn't what Gary sang to me this morning.  I knew what he was singing and knew it was from the Three Stooges but just couldn't find it.  Whew, now I can sleep tonight and it won't be bugging me!
